In 2014, my daughters and I took a trip to Hawaii. We stayed on the Big Island of Hawaii and had a fantastic time. I originally added the 7 days we were traveling so we could remember our trip, but I decided to add other locations that we want to go back to. It was a fun trip, and if you are planning on going one day, we highly recommend going for at least a week. There are many things to do including snorkeling, hiking, traveling to waterfalls, botanical gardens, ziplines, and coastlines like no other in the world.

When we went, it was during August, right at the end of the summer months. Hurricane Iselle had just brushed by the Hawaiian Islands. By the time we arrived a few weeks later, it was as if nothing had occurred. Every place that we went to was beautiful. The waterfalls were especially nice, perhaps fueled by the extra water that Isabel brought. We were lucky to have planned this trip when we did. In fact, we were so lucky that on Day 5 we saw a Honu or green sea turtle just a few feet from us.

If you want to see some of the places that we went to, you can click on the links below. We stayed on the West side of the island at a place called Kailua-Kona, a beautiful little town that is definitely designed for tourists but is also distinctly Hawaiian with great places to snorkel and white sand beaches.

The following links will take you through each day of our trip. There are also many other posts on this website showing you where you also go on the Big Island of Hawaii, places that we want to see when we go back.
