Makuala O’Oma Trail – A Short Hike Near Kailua Kona Hawaii

If you are taking a vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii, and you want to do short hike, you should consider the Makuala O’Oma Trail. It is a very short loop trail, one that is very easy, lasting just over a mile. One of the best things about Hawaii is most of the trails that you can go water accessible throughout the year because of its lower latitude and beautiful weather, especially on the West Coast or leeward side. How To Get There

If you travel on the Mamalahoa Highway going north from Kailua, you will then turn on Kaloko Drive. You will see a road to the left that is called Makahi St which will take you directly to the trailhead. It is something that you could probably do in the early morning, or in the late afternoon, perhaps after spending a day at the beach. Makuala O’Oma Trail is a great location, one that you will be able to check off of your list of the many places that you can go hiking in Hawaii.
