Iao Valley State Park is a beautiful location, located in central Maui. It is a destination that has an abundance of tropical flowers, trees, and beautiful vistas. It’s a large area, and you will likely need at least half of the week to see everything that this state Park has to offer. Situated at about 1200 feet above sea level, this is a beautiful location. You can go to what is called the Iao Needle, a feature that resembles a needle that is coming up out of the ground. This was also a place where battles were fought back at the time of Kamehameha I. For those that have visited once before, they will likely be motivated to come back again.
Information You Should Know About The Park
The park does require you to pay a fee for parking. If you are a resident of Hawaii, there is no charge. However, if you are driving in larger vehicles, everyone will have to pay between $10 and $40 to park. There is a beautiful scenic viewpoint that will allow you to see for miles in all directions. It is a destination that is designed for people that enjoy hiking. There are moderate hikes throughout, and as long as you have brought enough supplies for the day, you will be perfectly comfortable in this very unique tropical location.
