Honokohau Falls is one of the best waterfalls on the beautiful island of Maui. It was used in the movie Jurassic Park. It is considered to be the tallest of all of the waterfalls on this Hawaiian island. It is named after a stream which starts at Puu Kukui summit. The region gives you a very prehistoric feeling. This location receives over 350 inches of rain every year. That’s one of the reasons why Honokohau Falls is consistently flowing, and it will be one of the best waterfalls that you ever see.
There is no way to actually hike to this waterfall, unless you have lived on Maui and are experienced with this particular island. There are helicopter rides that you can take which will bring you right to the waterfall which is a two-tiered waterfall. It is just over 1100 feet in height, and when you go on a helicopter, you can look down at the pools of water in which the first and second tiers come down to. It is well worth the cost of the helicopter flight which may be the most exciting part of your vacation.
What To Expect When Visiting This Waterfall
Some people have reported that it may go by a different name as you are trying to find a helicopter ride to the Jurassic Park waterfall. Some of them will know exactly where to go. Others in Lahaina may specifically have helicopter rides that go directly to the waterfall, and always try to get a window seat if possible. If you are working with a reputable company such as Air Maui, this should not be a problem. You will have a very good experience. It’s something that is simply not accessible because of where it is on the island, and that’s why spending a little money on a helicopter ride might be well worth the brief but outstanding scenery that you will see.
